The Sensor Technology Applied in Reconfigurable Systems for Sustainable Security project, an initiative of the Dutch government, aims to develop the technology to build reconfigurable sensor networks which can quickly adapt to the changing nature of security threats.
Sensors are playing an increasingly important role in guaranteeing our security, gathering information and often operating as part of a network. But if the nature of a threat changes, until now a new generation of technology was required in order to maintain an adequate level of protection. That will change, however, if the sensors themselves are able to adapt to the changing circumstances. There will no longer be any need to invest constantly just to keep up with the latest developments.
This project builds on the leading position achieved by Dutch technology in the field of radar and sensors. Technological know-how will be shared between industrial partners and research institutes (TNO, TU Delft, University of Twente), while industrial partners (Thales, Recore Systems and NXP) contribute their expertise in utilizing this knowledge to develop practical applications.
