HiPEAC is a European Network of Excellence, funded by the European Union under the Framework Programmes 6 and 7. Started in 2004, the network initially focused on Embedded Architecture and Compilation, but in 2008 this was expanded to computing systems in general.
At present, the network has over 400 members affiliated to 79 leading European universities and 37 multinational and European companies. HiPEAC aims to create a visible and integrated community of researchers with strong links to industry and to stimulate cooperation between its members in the nine different Research Clusters.
The Reconfigurable Computing cluster of HiPEAC aims to bring together Europe's best hardware designers, computer architects, compiler and CAD designers, and high-level algorithm developers to create a critical mass strong enough to maintain Europe's leading research position in the field of Reconfigurable Computing.
